Volunteering

NSW VRA squads are always on the lookout for enthusiastic, committed people who want to support their local communities through squad membership.

The NSW VRA comprises over 50 squads with a range of skills including General Land Rescue, Bush Search and Rescue, Cave Rescue, Specialist Communications, and others.

The NSW VRA provides a 24/7/365 response to emergency situations across wide areas of NSW.  Membership can provide rewarding experiences and provide a means to give something back to your community.

Members are covered by workers compensation provided via the WORKERS COMPENSATION (BUSH FIRE, EMERGENCY AND RESCUE SERVICES) ACT 1987 when taking part in VRA activities.

All NSW VRA members must undergo competency based training as required by the State Emergency Board.

If you are interested in joining or have any questions about the VRA check out the squads page and contact your local squad. Alternatively ring 1300 872 777 or complete the contact form to the right.
