Brenton Charlton
Commissioner/Public Officer, VRA Rescue NSW
Brenton Charlton brings extensive experience in emergency services, rescue operations and community safety to his role as Commissioner and CEO of VRA Rescue NSW. With a career built around service, leadership and operational response, Brenton has developed a strong understanding of the challenges faced by emergency responders and the communities they support.
Prior to leading VRA Rescue NSW, Brenton served with the NSW Police Force, where he gained significant experience in frontline operations, incident response and emergency management. His commitment to protecting and supporting others was recognised through a commendation.
As Commissioner, Brenton combines his operational experience with a focus on strengthening volunteer capability, supporting training and ensuring VRA Rescue NSW remains prepared to respond to the needs of communities across New South Wales.
Alix Thom
Deputy Commissioner/Secretary, VRA Rescue NSW
Alix Thom brings extensive experience in policing, emergency management, governance and operational leadership to her role as Deputy Commissioner of VRA Rescue NSW. With a strong background supporting community safety and frontline services, Alix provides leadership that strengthens operational capability, volunteer support and organisational resilience.
Prior to joining VRA Rescue NSW, Alix developed significant experience through her service in NSW Police, along with expertise in law, compliance, risk management and emergency response coordination. Her understanding of complex incidents and multi-agency operations supports VRA Rescue NSW’s commitment to delivering professional and accountable rescue services across New South Wales.
As Deputy Commissioner, Alix works alongside Commissioner Brenton Charlton and the wider leadership team to support volunteers, enhance capability and ensure VRA Rescue NSW remains prepared to respond to the needs of communities across the state.
